Most budget colognes at this price never attempt a caramelized twist on a familiar tropical fruit, but that twist is exactly Crave's top. Lemon, apple, rhubarb, fig tree wood and roasted pineapple stack into a wide, layered fruitiness, more complex than its price point suggests. Lavender, orange blossom, cedarwood, geranium and iris build an equally full center stage, floral and woody, adding depth as the fragrance develops further. Amber, patchouli, vetiver and leather form the dry-down, rich and earthy, and the effect is a considerably more serious close than the fruity opening implies. The fragrance reads as fruity woody, structured for evening wear while staying wearable through cooler daytime hours too. Crave Cologne fits dinners, gatherings and evenings where a fragrance needs serious depth behind it. Its combined top and center run to nine notes, making this one of the more layered compositions in this catalog. Cold weather suits the leather and patchouli dry-down especially well, once the fruity top has had time to fade into something darker. Maximum complexity at a modest price seems to be the goal here, and the sheer note count backs that ambition up.
